Nandi County
Nandi County occupies a high plateau above the western Rift Valley, with tea estates, forest patches and rolling farmland surrounding Nandi Hills. The region is internationally associated with elite distance running and provides high-altitude training routes. Kingwal Swamp shelters the elusive sitatunga antelope and wetland birds, while Chepkiit Waterfall lies on the Sosiani River near the county’s eastern edge. The Koitalel Samoei Museum and cultural centre recalls the Nandi leader who resisted colonial rule. Visitors can explore tea country, local history and quiet nature sites while travelling between Eldoret, Kisumu and western Kenya.
