Kisii County
Kisii County covers densely settled, fertile highlands in southwestern Kenya. The village of Tabaka is nationally known for soapstone quarrying and carving, where workshops produce sculptures, bowls and decorative pieces by hand. Manga Hills and numerous ridges provide views across a landscape of banana groves, tea fields and small farms. Waterfalls such as Nyakwana are valued local nature stops, while Kisii town has a busy market and serves as the regional commercial centre. The county offers travellers an introduction to Gusii culture, skilled craft traditions and the vivid green countryside between the Maasai Mara and Lake Victoria basin.
