Migori County
Migori County lies in southwestern Kenya between Lake Victoria and the Tanzanian border. Thimlich Ohinga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves imposing dry-stone enclosures built by pastoral communities over several centuries. Fishing settlements line the lake, while the Kuja River passes Gogo Falls and supports farms before reaching the Winam Gulf. Around Macalder, traces of historic gold and copper mining remain part of the local story. Migori town is a busy regional and cross-border centre. The county combines archaeology, Luo and Kuria cultures, lakeside scenery and rural landscapes on routes linking western Kenya with northern Tanzania.
